During the 2016-2017 school year and with the help of area colleges and universities, Hickman County High School students will have the opportunity to take a multitude of dual-credit courses through our program called the Falcon Academy. This is an exciting chance for us to offer our children a strong head start in a post-secondary education with the colleges in our area. It is also an effort to help ensure the success of our students as they pursue a diploma in the college of their choice through a more rigorous course schedule at a reduced expense for our families.
HCHS will provide time in the students’ schedules for them to take online courses in the library with a certified person supervising. Students on free/reduced lunch may be eligible for the Mary Jo Young Scholarship where they can receive full tuition for two courses each semester taken through our area colleges. The Hickman County Board of Education has agreed to pay for the full expense of textbooks as they do for all regular public school students. Other local sponsors for this program have generously agreed to help fully fund the program this year. Our goal is to provide college credits to all students who want to participate regardless of their economic situations.
