University of Kentucky “Rising Scholar” Award
The intent of the Rising Scholar Award is to help UK identify a high school sophomore we believe is on track for success at the collegiate level. He/she might be a likely GSP or GSA student, a National Merit or National Achievement Semifinalist, or they may simply demonstrate exemplary abilities both inside and outside the classroom.
Barber was selected by the faculty of HCHS based on the strength of her academic record, potential for academic success, demonstration of leadership and community service, and contribution to diversity.
Barber will be invited to an exclusive event at UK this summer and she will receive additional unique opportunities, mailings and information from UK over the next few years of high school.
