HCES Testing fun !
To help ease text anxiety regarding the annual state K-PREP assessment, students and staff enjoyed a “stress free day” Tuesday.

The event, coordinated by Vickie Batts and Mitzi Spraggs from the school’s Family Resource Center, included 13 stress-relieving stations that included corn hole, volleyball, kickball, an obstacle course, snow cones, face painting, popcorn and a drink, and Twister.  Parents and other volunteers assisted at the stations as teachers and staff circulated through the fun-filled sites with students.

The day opened with an encouraging message from HCES Principal Richard Todd, then concluded in the gym that day with a chant competition.   At one of the stations, each class was assigned the task of creating a military-like chant; each class then presented its version at the closing assembly, with the presentation of the 2017 testing banner to close the day.   The banner, filled with names of students who scored proficient and distinguished on the 2017 K-PREP test, was hung for students to help motivate them for this year’s test.

The students and staff of HCES sincerely appreciate the support from our community as our students show the entire state just how great our school is.
