Perfect Attendance

Hickman County Elementary School recently awarded students for perfect attendance. Students who had missed no more than a half day of school were honored during an assembly, and received prizes that had been donated by community members. Prizes donated included two bicycles, two $25 Wal Mart gift cards, and $220 in cash.

At the assembly, it was revealed by HCES Principal Richard Todd that 20 students in grades K-6 had missed a half day or less during the 2016-17 school year. Those students included: sixth graders Hailey Stinson, Keyonna Ross, Joshua Lewinter, Anna Howell; fifth grader Lindsey Bencini; fourth graders Morgan Wilson, Jared Terry, Adrian Perry, Hailey Meshew and Eric Cooley; Audrey Tucker, Cadence Byassee, Jack Byassee and Drew Cunningham from third grade; second graders Emily Wilson, Jax Hunter and Ay’Brionna Newberry, first grade student Jatavious Brown; and kindergarten students Grayson Clark and Charley E. Campbell.

Todd explained the procedure for the awards to the student body. All names were placed in a container, and one at a time would be drawn from the large cup. When a student’s name was drawn, that child was able to select the prize of his or her choice.

Donations for the prizes came from the Hickman County High School Project Graduation (a bicycle), Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tennessee (two $25 Wal Mart gift cards), plus a bicycle and $220 in cash from various individuals.
